NEW - how we made our Hex Coin

 Coin Blanks.

Premium coin blanks forged from solid metals.

Finally an alternative to the typical water/laser cut blanks with ugly edges, burrs and raw scratched faces. Don’t waste your valuable time with finishing these typical market available blanks!

Our premium blanks take care of all the finishing work plus have extra features to make your work stand out. These blanks were created with “makers” and engravers in mind. Its all in the details.

1) Adds resell value to your project with a true reeded edge. Our blanks look like a coin and not a piece of scrap metal cut into a circle.

2) Error compensating groove on faces. This feature was added with laser engravers in mind. Trying to perfectly center a round design on a coin is very difficult without the proper equipment. To help fix misalignment simply overflow your design into the groove, this allows the edges of your design to be hidden. Now the perfectly concetric groove edge acts as a visual border to your design!

3) Low order quantities available. No need to buy 100+ coins

Click on each picture to see more pictures and material composition specs of each metal.

38mm - Spin Coin ( 10 pack)

Now with a lighter press fit, just LIGHTLY tap on the ball with a hammer and your done. No need for an arbor press!

Premium Ball bearing materials ( choose at checkout) Polished and hardened ball materials for extra longevity and spin times.

38mm - EDC TOKEN - Zircuti
from $29.75

38mm x 5mm (comes with a case)

Zircuti also known as Zirconium Damascus is a hand forged alloy consisting of multi grades and titanium and zirconium. These coin blanks will come with a mirror polished finish. This material will be darker than TiDama due to the dark gray tint zirc takes when heated.

See important cleaning instructions below or watching our flame coloring video in the “additional info” section below.

Why non-flamed? To give more versatility Non-flamed allows you to customize the colors you want, high heat or low heat. Recently I prefer the look of Flame before engraving. This will allow you to “erase” the color with the laser and them blacken with the laser.

If you have never flamed titanium damascus before you will need to thoroughly clean the blank removing any impurities and oils. Always handle with gloves after cleaning and until flaming is complete to avoid contamination which may result in splotcy colors.

38mm EDC Token - Stainless Steel DAMA
from $35.00

Stainless Steel Damascus. You will need to etch this with chemicals. While it laser engraves line stainless steel, the laser alone does not expose the pattern!

Suggested etching technique:Ferric Chloride - is a mild acid that works well on this alloy. It will etch of the metals while leaving the other metal almost untouched.

I used a 50/50 mix of ferric chloride and water to etch the coin in the pictures. Pattern is exposed instantly in the acid. To speed up the etching process keep the mixture warm to hot. This example coin was etched for about 30 mins.

38mm EDC TOKEN - Super Conductor
$29.75

38mm x 5mm thick (now comes with a case)

Super Conductor is a “damascus” type metal formed with copper and Niobium. Each token has a semi polished finish to it, with all machine lines removed. Niobium can be electro anodzied if you wish to add color. We do not have capsules for this size at this time.

Avaliable in large and small fillament size. (see picture)

Laser Engraving advise:

Copper and Niobium offers a unique combination for laser engraving.

Copper needs alot of power and a low frequency setting, while niobium engraves similar to titanium and becomes rough with low freq and high power. I have found a high freq and medium power setting can engrave the niobium cleanly while at the same time leave the copper almost intact. This provides a unique circumstance where the niobium can be engraved to a deeper depth than the copper ( see last picture as an example of this effect.)

Weight: 38 grams

38mm - EDC TOKEN - TiDama
from $25.00

38mm x 5mm (comes with a case)

First group photo show the actual pattern of the coins for sale in this batch

These polished blanks will have some polishing compound in the face grooves. It can easily be removed with a toothpick or soft toothbrush. It is not necessary to clean out the compound prior to flaming. Can be removed after flaming as it does not effect the coloring of the metal in anyway.

3 alloy Titanium Damascus with mirror polish. You can choose not flamed or flamed (for an upcharge) Flamed = Colored

Non-Flamed = no coloring

Why non-flamed? To give more versatility Non-flamed allows you to customize the colors you want, high heat or low heat. Recently I prefer the look of Flame before engraving. This will allow you to “erase” the color with the laser and them blacken with the laser.

If you have never flamed titanium damascus before you will need to thoroughly clean the blank removing any impurities and oils. Always handle with gloves after cleaning and until flaming is complete to avoid contamination which may result in splotcy colors.

38mm Niobium disc
$23.50

38mm x 5mm thick disc. (same size as our EDC Tokens but without the face groove)

Niobium(Nb) is a grayish rare earth metal often used in jewelry due to it being hypoallergenic. It is slightly more valuable than silver despite not being a “precious metal”. Niobium does not tarnish or patina. This is a unique metal perfect for your high end customers that works well as a coin metal.

Anodizing: Can NOT be colored using heat like titanium can. But similar to titanium it does electro anodize very well.

Laser Engraving: Engraves depth 2x faster than titanium. Can get a dark gray/black mark using similar in focus settings that you would use to black mark stainless steel. Edge burrs sand off easily with wet sand paper. Very difficult to polish but sanding leave a nice matte (non reflective) finish.

Weight: 1.8oz (50g)

Comes with a protective acrylic capsule.

Mokume Gane - TAG
$24.25

price is per tag

Mokume gane (mow-koo-may gone-ay) is a laminated metal, made out of non-ferrous (no iron) metal. It is believed to have been first created about 300 years ago in Japan.

Our Mokume tags consist of 3 metals, Copper, Brass and Cupronickel making it the easiest to engrave of all our exotic metal offerings. They come in a polished finish with all machine lines removed. Due to the nature of forging the material the pattern will vary from tag to tag. They are double sided which means that both faces will have an equally beautiful random pattern to them.

ETCHING Instructions: 4:1 ratio of 4 parts HOT water (water heated from coffee maker works well) to 1 part Ferric Chloride. Wear protective gloves and etch outside if possible. It is suggested to neutralize in a mixture of water and baking soda when done.

It’s weight is between titanium and Stainless Steel. Zirc is often flamed to a black color. The oxide layer that forms while flaming is extremely hard and durable. Certain flaming techniques can be done to produce an “oil slick” colored finish.
